Abstract
A transient eddy-current measurement method is presented to determine the thickness and conductivity of a conductive plate. The conductive plate is induced by an air-cored coil, the magnetic flux density along the axial is measured, and the various signals corresponding to plates with different thickness and conductivity are calculated using a 3-D transient eddy-current simulator. Characteristic features are obtained from the transient response. A similarity-based modeling method is utilized in this paper to estimate the thickness and conductivity of the conductive plate.
