Abstract
This correspondence provides an insight into the echo spectrum of stepped-frequency continuous wave (SFCW) from the view point of time domain and presents a new reconstruction filter structure. At the design stage, a zero-order hold system is introduced to analyze the spectrum of conventional SFCW echoes, and the theoretical expressions highlight that the Fourier transform (FT) technology can be applied to synthesize a short pulse, which is equivalent to the inverse Fourier transform (IFT) technology for an SFCW system. Finally, several numerical results are provided and discussed.
