Abstract :
A new image compression algorithm desirable for low gate FPGA implementation, is developed. The algorithm closely follows the JPEG standard, except for two deviations. The first deviation is the replacement of DCT with the Walsh-Hadamard transformation, and the second one is in the quantization technique. In both cases the coefficient multiplication/division is entirely eliminated
