Abstract :
The emission from a pulsed point-to-plane corona discharge is used to image flame reaction zones with high temporal resolution. An Ar/O2 gas mixture is used as an oxidant, allowing for the initiation of the corona discharge at lower applied voltages than it is possible in an air discharge while maintaining similar pulsed plasma current. The lower operating voltages reduce the amount of random streamer strikes and thus increase the clarity of the plasma emission images.
