Abstract :
Myopic policy, which maximises only immediate throughput, has been established as a simple and robust opportunistic spectrum access policy. The main drawback of the myopic policy is the lack of efficiency caused by collisions among secondary users. Secondary users do not take into account what other secondary users are doing when they attempt to transmit data packets, and there are no mechanisms to reduce collisions among them. To relieve this problem, a modified myopic policy with collision avoidance (myopic/CA is proposed). Simulation results are provided to show that myopic/CA yields better performance than the existing myopic policy.
