Abstract :
A single element antenna has been integrated with a commercially available switch system to achieve beam steering for portable and compact applications. A team of collaborating researchers from the UK and Japan created the low profile reconfigurable antenna system using a hybrid high-impedance surface (HHIS)-based square loop antenna and a PIN diode-based SP4T switch, and demonstrated it as a complete unit with its associated electronics.
