Abstract :
This paper describes the ATM up-link module for the THMAS-1, a high-performance ISDN/ATM multimedia integrated access system based on our patented single board large capacity (32K/spl times/32K) ISDN switch network. The module implements an ATM 155M SDH UNI interface and employs CBR AAL1 SDT to adapt n/spl times/64 kbps user data. The system´s signaling interworking function is considered in particular. The paper presents the architecture and implementation scheme of the up-link module. It is important to note that this up-link module can be referred to as a general N-ISDN to B-ISDN interworking function (IWF) in ITU-T terminology.
