Abstract :
In this paper it is proposed a theoretical and practical generated waveform for a pulse targeting European UWB band. An analysis of spectral mask regulated for UWB transmission in Europe is done, in order to investigate appropriated waveforms for such frequency spectrum. Because of limited duration of the pulse, several windowing methods of time-unlimited ideal waveform are investigated. The sine signal windowed by a Hann window of 1.45 ns is considered to have a best fill of the rectangular spectral window approximating the European UWB mask 6-8.5 GHz. For such pulse, it is observed that it can be composed of several successive subpulses, and then may be obtained with a modular integrated CMOS structure. The approximation pulse obtained proves a good fill, about 42% of the available spectrum band, with respect to the out-of-band very small level required.
