Abstract :
Monitoring persons in organization has become the necessity for the concerned authorities. In monitoring applications normally global positioning systems (GPS) is used. Since GPS has the limitations of large multi-path and fading errors in urban environment it will result in inaccurate monitoring of persons which is can be overcome by using inertial naviagtion. This paper proposes an idea for monitoring persons in environments where GPS signals can´t be reached such as inside of buildings. The person to be monitored has to carry the card which consists of Inertial Navigation System (INS) and GPRS modules. The card gives the position of the person in latitude longitude and altitude. The latitude and longitude of a particular area are predefined and stored in the database and when the person enters the predefined area with the card, the presence of the person in the prescribed area can be noted, which can be used for attendance in organization etc.
