Abstract
In this paper, a GUI (graphical user interface) for a desktop NC machine tool controller with a vision component is proposed. The results presented here are part of a research which main goal is to increase the convenience of operations on a Desktop NC machine tool through the integration of a vision component to its controller. In one of our previous reports, the extraction of dimensions and positions of workpieces on a machining table from a depth sensor´s data has been proposed. The purpose of that process was the automatic tool positioning for machining operations. However, some settings was required for a reliable localization of the area of interest and a robust segmentation of workpieces. The proposed user interface includes functionalities that make those settings easier and required only when the system is being set for the first time or when the user, for some reasons, decides to change the position of the camera. The functions behind the user interface as well as the incentives for its design are discussed in some details in this paper.
