Abstract
Unrepeatered 80 Gbit/s RZ single channel transmission over 160 km of standard single-mode fiber at 1.55 /spl mu/m is reported using passive compensation of dispersion and dispersion-slope. Error-free transmission (BER=10-9) with a receiver sensitivity of -22 dBm wavelength tolerance of 10 nm was achieved.
