Abstract :
Channel estimation is essential in 802.16e based system which supports higher data rate along with higher mobility rate. To combat the ISI and Doppler effect in Mobile WiMAX, MMSE and LMMSE Channel estimators provides effective solution but are much more complex. In this paper, an attempt has been made to apply best suitableness complex, pilot based channel estimation called Singular Value Decomposition (SVD). The research is carried out from conventional FFT to non-conventional DCT. Performance Comparison of FFT and DCT transform based OFDM has been made for 802.16 DL-PUSC system having Coded-OFDM as a key modulation technique with 3/4 code rate convolution channel coding. In this paper LS, LMMSE and SVD Channel Estimators have been used under ITU-A and ITU-B(Vehicular frequency selective fast fading and pedestrian frequency selective slow fading)environment. DCT-SVD has been proven a good combination for improved BER performance with lowest complexity compared to other combinations.
