Abstract :
Currently, there is no formal method of collecting and analysing valuable knowledge of Malaysian military personnel which they gained through experiences and formal training skills. The issues arise when the expert employees have come to the end of their service or leave the company in which they will bring along the knowledge, and the knowledge transfer is not properly hand over to the new person in charge. The realisation of the importance of this knowledge has motivated the researchers to capture it in a formal and systematic approach. Therefore, knowledge based portal for capturing the military center of expertise (CoE) on job experiences and skills as knowledge transfer medium is essential. With knowledge collection, the military should be able to analyse and categorise the knowledge and its CoE for standard operation references to other personnel. The aim of this paper is to propose a technique that captures the tacit knowledge of military tactics CoE in the Malaysian Armed Forces using knowledge-based systems. The proposed framework will be able to collect and process the content of the knowledge based using two (2) main components (i) context based keyword pattern and (ii) cluster analysis techniques. The main contribution of this research is a technique that capable of capturing the lesson learnt experiences and skills of knowledge workers, which can be applied to assist in decision making and knowledge transfer in many domain applications. Furthermore, this technique can also be applied to map network of centre of expertise in certain subject matters and identify communities of CoE among the military personnel.
