Abstract :
A special domain method is used to analyze a quarter-wave shorted rectangular patch antenna driven by a coaxial probe. Using the entire domain distribution function for the patch current, the self-impedance of the patch and the mutual coupling between the patch and probe are calculated using the free space Green´s function. The singularity in the kernel of the integral equation is avoided by selecting different integration schemes for source and field integrations. The input impedance and radiation pattern of the quarter-wave shorted rectangular patch are computed and validated against measurements.
