Abstract :
High spectral efficiency was realized in 20 Gbit/s-based DWDM experiment by manipulating the pulsewidth to suppress XPM. In the optimum pulsewidth 25 ps case, 50 ch/spl times/2O Gbit/s signals were transmitted 2000 km in a high local dispersion-managed line with high spectral efficiency of 0.4 bit/s/Hz.
