Abstract :
Short Tandem Repeats (STRs) in DNA sequences are associated with regulatory mechanisms. Existing tools for recognizing STRs, involve computational intensive string processing methods expecting parameters like pattern, pattern size or reference. This paper proposes ab initio, signal processing approach involving Wavelet Transformations, for detecting perfect, imperfect and interrupted STR regions.
