Governmental Protection for Agricultural Products of Geographical Indications in Jiangxi Province

Since the WTO Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights ("TRIPS") clearly included Geographical Indications (GI) and Copyrights, patent and trademarks into its protection list, China has attached greater importance to protection of GI and promulgated a series of related laws and regulations at various levels to satisfy the needs of GI protection. GI, as a major measure to protect and develop high-quality agricultural specialty, has accomplished good results both at home and abroad. This article embodies a comprehensive survey and analysis of registration of products of GI in Jiangxi and puts forward suggestions on improving governmental protection, in an attempt to enhance awareness and competitiveness of Jiangxi agricultural products, and promote the coordinated development of economy and ecology in Jiangxi.
