Abstract :
An in-service nonintrusive measurement device for monitoring network performance at the 4-wire trunk level is described. The signal processing functions are extensively performed using a digital adaptive filter (DAF) implemented on a Motorola DSP56001 to characterise an unknown echo-path. Original results have shown that network parameters can be derived from the echo-path model, which can be subsequently mapped onto subjective estimates of customer perceived call quality
