Skimmer-shaped linear polarized circular microstrip antennas for miniaturization

Abstract :
In this paper, circular microstrip antenna of 3-dimension structure using perturbation effect is designed and fabricated at a frequency 1.575 GHz (GPS) for miniaturizing microstrip antenna patch size. As a result, the skimmer-shaped linear polarized circular microstrip antenna has a return loss of -26.59 dB, -10 dB bandwidth of 65 MHz (4.13%), 4.66 dBd gain, and -3 dB beam width of E-plane of 79deg and H-plane of 87deg. The diameter of the skimmer-shaped antenna is 85 mm, which has reduction rate of 23.2% and 12.75% compare with general MPA (microstrip patch antenna) and CCMPA (corrugated circular microstrip patch antenna), respectively. Therefore, the skimmer-shaped linear polarized circular microstrip antenna using perturbation effect is a proper structure for the miniaturization
