Abstract :
In this paper, a simple MATLAB-SIMULINK based Digital Signal Processor(DSP) implementation for a Sliding Mode Control(SMC) is presented for power converters in electric vehicles and renewable energy applications. This proposed control and program can be used a Power Factor Corrected(PFC) converter and a bi-directional converter in those applications. Design procedures of SMC for a Power Factor Corrected converter, boost and buck converters are explained in detail. To validate the SMC controls in those power converters, a computer simulation using PSIM is performed, and a prototype test-bed is built and tested using a DSP. The results show that the simple implementation can be achieved, and be applicable for energy (fuel cell/wind/solar) and electric vehicle applications.
