Abstract :
It has long been the established view that the much maligned connector is the biggest cause of automotive electrical system failures. This may well have been the case five years ago, though the findings of the Automobile Association aided with an improved system of reporting failures at the roadside and a more comprehensive analysis of breakdown statistics, are that the position has improved substantially. In terms of the size of the problem for the AA, roadside failures due to faulty connectors are well down the scale. This statistic seen against the growth of the number of connectors in the modern automobile, makes the improvement in connector quality, specification, and application even greater than the present statistics reveal.<>
