  • Abstract
It is of great significance to study non-agricultural employment of rural labor, for improving the income level and promoting full employment of farmers. With the deepening market-oriented reforms, instead of agricultural income, non-agricultural one has become the principal part of total income of farmers. Conversion trend is clear. Based on the survey data of 83 farmers in November 2008 in Fengxin and Yifeng County, Jiangxi Province, China, using Probit model as the main analyzing tool, the research analyses the influence of education, sex, age, training situation, marital status, labor burden and per capita land area on off-farm employment decisions. Furthermore, recommendations are presented basing on the results obtained above.
