  • Abstract
We analyze voice clipping and data delay performance of a reservation-based multiple access scheme supporting three classes (voice, low delay data and high delay data) in wireless networks. We also consider and compare two systems: a partially data transparent (PDT) system where the presence of high delay data users is transparent to voice users and a fully data transparent (FDT) system where the presence of both low delay and high delay data has no influence on the voice service. A Markov chain model of the system is formed and then solved numerically to obtain the parameters of key interest. The presented analysis is general enough to apply to any reservation-based multiple access scheme supporting mixed services. Numerical calculations show close agreement with computer simulations. Whenever possible we include analytical results for completeness
