  • Abstract
    In case of maritime distress incidents, identifying the location of a victim is the foremost action in search and rescue activities. The existing search and rescue activities have been executed in the possible location identified by mayday of a victim or report from a witness of incidents. However, there are technical difficulties in precisely placing the location of a victim when a quite amount of time has passed before moving to the incident location. This study developed a system that provides the information on the victim´s location using GPS in case of maritime distress incidents and passes an emergency call to a remote rescuer using wireless sensor networking technology. Furthermore, this study presents an embedded system for mayday reception based on a satellite map.
