Abstract
Using a panel data between 1999 and 2006 set of 605 households in Loess Plateau Region, China, and Differences in Differences (DD) method and Matching Method, we evaluate the Program´s impact on the off-farm employment. Our empirical study results show that, SLCP has made a significant impact on the off-farm employment since it has been implemented for 7 years. SLCP has significantly increased the probability of shifting the rural labor from on-farm work to off-farm work by 11 percent with DD method, and also a consistent result by at least 17 percent with matching methods.
