Abstract
Renewable energy sources have become a very hot topic for research in the past two decades. The importance of renewable energy sources comes from the energy resources crisis. This motivates researchers to examine renewable energy resources and try to maximize their efficiency. Photovoltaic system is a system for converting solar energy to electrical energy. Solar energy is one of the most important renewable energy resources. Photovoltaic systems suffer from high cost and low efficiency. In this work we address these problems through an efficient maximum power point tracking MPPT controller. MPPT algorithms are used to match the load resistance to the input resistance of the PV panel. In this work we introduce an efficient fuzzy logic controller that can track the MPP with high efficiency. The controller is tested with different irradiance and weather conditions and simulation results show satisfactory static and dynamic response.
