  • Abstract
This paper presents a new current transformer model which can simulate waveform of secondary current taking saturation into account. The knowledge of the magnetic core behavior is an important criterion for CT design. Hence models that can accurately simulate the behavior of the magnetic materials are required. The paper proposes three models, namely, the Von-Bertalanffy Growth model, Modified Frohlich model and a generic polynomial model that help simulate the magnetization characteristics of different magnetic materials. The model parameters are computed using optimization algorithms. A sample current transformer is designed using CRGO material and the same is experimentally tested to validate the model. The results are compared to illustrate the optimized method for CT design.
