Abstract
Emerging ubiquitous multimedia services are expected to be available any time, anywhere, and using different computing devices. We present 2KQ, an architecture that enables such a dynamic and customized delivery of multimedia services. In 2KQ, a multimedia service can be delivered by multiple service configurations, each of which involves a different set of service components. For each client, the appropriate service configuration is chosen based on the current end-to-end resource availability. We have implemented a prototype of 2KQ as part of the 2K operating system. As a proof-of-concept, we have also built a video streaming service on top of 2KQ. Our experiments show the soundness of 2KQ
