  • Abstract
This paper describes the impact of various fault current limiters (FCLs) on electric distribution networks in presence of wind turbine power generation (WTPG). The introduction of distributed generation (DG) in power systems may cause problems such as increasing of short-circuit level, reducing power system stability margins, alteration of power quality and blinding of protection. To deal with those adverse effects, utilization of FCL as an applicable and interesting solution is investigated. Generally FCLs are classified in three different categories that are superconducting (SFCL), solid state (SSFCL) and hybrid types. In this paper the characteristic of FCLs and their action are studied by time domain PSCAD simulation on two test cases.
