Abstract :
The authors develop a simple procedure to compute the distortion of a rectangular pulsed wave-form while propagating through the ionosphere. They show that, the rectangular pulsed signal is distorted seriously in the average ionospheric model when the pulsewidth of the rectangular pulse is about 10 ns. They also study the scattering characteristics of the ionosphere and its influence on wave-form distortion. The absorption of the ionosphere can also make the pulsed wave-form change, but the influence is very little. The nonlinear effect is considered
