  • Abstract
The evaluation of antenna radiation patterns from near-field measurement consists of measuring the fields radiated by the antenna under test over a prescribed surface, within the near-field region, and subsequently processing the measured data in order to compute the desired patterns. The authors present a measurement technique which consists of moving a very long and thin wire past the antenna under test, while the variations of the reflection coefficient are recorded. Subsequent processing of these data yields one cut of the tri-dimensional radiation pattern. They discuss the underlying concepts upon which the technique is based and simplify assumptions that have been made. Some simulations and measured results are presented and discussed
