Abstract
A theoretical model is derived for determining the field diffracted by a circular hole in a lossy ground plane. The problem is formulated using a uniform geometrical theory of diffraction and equivalent current techniques. The equivalent current technique is extended to a lossy ground plane using diffraction coefficients that apply across shadow boundaries. The formulation developed applies to both the near-zone and the caustic-zone regions
