Abstract :
An original regime of sub-wavelength imaging by flat superlenses is proposed. It does not involve negative refraction and amplification of evanescent waves in contrast to the perfect lenses formed by left-handed media. At microwave frequencies, an implementation of this regime using array of conducting wires is proposed and tested both numerically and experimentally. At optical frequencies, the proposed regime is realized using layered metal-dielectric structure.
