Abstract :
In this paper, there are two different artificial pollution such as coastal and desert were applied on three different types of insulators namely, porcelain anti-fog disc type, disc type glass insulator and composite long rod type insulator. As per the standard IEC 61245 the pollution test were performed in the artificial climate chamber by solid layer pollution method under HVDC supply. By using even rising method, the average flashover voltage can be calculated. Based on flashover voltage and insulating material profiles, the flashover gradients of three insulators were determined. Comparing the test results, porcelain having better with stand capability on both region tests due to higher leakage distance than others.
