Abstract :
The new control technique for tool and cutter grinder machine based on fuzzy gain scheduling is introduced. The gain of proportional integral controller is scheduled using fuzzy logic technique depending upon spindle power. The controller selects the value of feed override such that it assures good productivity as well as tool protection. Hence conservative selection for feed override value on the basis of operator´s skill is avoided. During normal cutting conditions feed is increased to get reduced cycle time while feed is decreased during disturbance conditions to avoid tool breakage. Rate of rise and fall of feed is different to assure robustness during rise and protection during fall. Mamdani type fuzzy control technique is applied to schedule the gain. This control technique gives reduced cycle time and better tool protection. Results are generated and analyzed using MATLAB SIMULINK.
