Abstract
In this paper, a sensor less operation of a Switched Reluctance Motor drive is proposed. Here, the commutation of switched Reluctance motor is done without the use of a position detector. A method based on the calculation of phase inductance from the flux value is used in this. It is ensured that the switching of each phase winding takes place during the positive slope of the inductance profile. The exact aligned position is not ensured though. A simulation is carried out using MATLAB. A 6/4 SRM is used for the purpose. The actual value of inductance in the aligned position is measured by external means and is used as the reference value in the simulation. This is compared with the measured value of inductance and thus generates the triggering pulses required for the drive.
