Abstract :
This paper deals with the vector control of Permanent magnet synchronous motor drive based on the use of power transformations in order to model the PMSM drive. Speed and torque vector control can then be implemented resulting in a precise motor drive performance. The proposed control algorithm is derived by decomposing the machine current into two components, one being linked to the torque and the other one to its flux. The paper discusses the benefits resulting from the use of vector control in a Permanent magnet synchronous motor drive. A comprehensive survey on the existing design technique has been carried out to formulate a basic initial design of a precise PMSM drive for future spacecraft applications. The transformation of the three phase system to the dq reference frame using Park´s, Clarke´s and their inverse transformations were analyzed and is used for the description of PMSM drive. Separate code has been generated for modeling the power transformations which is essential for predicting the dynamic behavior of the PMSM drive. Simulation results are used to validate the proposed motor drive model and the related control strategy.
