Abstract
This paper presents a new technique for computing the transmission propagation constants for a planar interface between two lossy uniaxial media with possibly different optic axis orientations. The technique differs from the analytical continuation of the lossless case solution by taking the permittivity to be complex valued. The technique takes into account explicitly both the effect of the non-uniform wave propagation incurred by the presence of material losses, and the effect of the anisotropy of the medium.
