Abstract
This paper describes a model and the impact analysis of an energy management strategy for the operation of plug-in electric vehicles and smart homes during power outages. It aims at improving the energy resilience of such homes by enabling the vehicle to provide power using vehicle-to-home technology. This strategy enables maintaining a minimum level of comfort during the outage, also by controlling the operation of selected loads and appliances. Simulation results for different cases show that the proposed strategy is capable of satisfying most basic electricity needs of a house during several hours, hence improving its resilience.
