Abstract :
This paper discusses developments in ray base computer codes to predict the characteristics of the radio channel for microcellular networks. Various classes of ray codes, and their limitations, are reviewed in terms of the underlying phenomena to be modeled. One application that is described is for site specific prediction of coverage and interference. We also describe the use of site specific predictions for Monte Carlo simulation of higher order channel statistics. Finally, some of the open problems that need solutions are discussed.
