Abstract :
Virtual Sensor Networks represent an innovative networking paradigm which facilitates the development of an integrated infrastructure shared by multiple applications. As multiple applications share common sensing resources, it is extremely important to maintain their Quality of Monitoring (QoM) at satisfactory levels. This is essentially an optimization problem subject to multiple constraints. To solve the problem, this paper proposes a novel admission control scheme to admit and execute new applications by taking into account both QoM and timing requirements. Set of simulation-based experiments verify that the proposed scheme can admit a new application in polynomial time. We also systematically analyze the impact and relations of different parameters determining the performance of our algorithm through a set of simulations.
