Abstract :
This paper presents a comparative study of discrete array pattern synthesis when the minor lobe is tapered. The array designs using Taylor´s one-parameter method together with the orthogonal polynomial method i.e., Legendre and the second kind Tschebyschev arrays are described. The way characteristics such as the radiation pattern, half-power beamwidth, first null beamwidth, directivity, the nearest to the furthest minor lobe ratio, and beam efficiency are illustrated. The advantages and disadvantages of each method are summarized.
