Abstract :
This paper presents the design, simulation, construction and measurements of a filter with wide pass-band in the frequency range of 40-60 GHz. This filter can be used in front-end of a millimeter-wave frequency down-converter for conversion of millimeter-wave signals to the microwave frequency between 2-18 GHz. This design approach is more compatible with machining techniques. Using irises inside a rectangular hollow waveguide we can design wide bandwidth filter to cover the whole 40-60 GHz frequency range. In the proposed configuration, the band-pass filter followed by a low-pass filter to reject the spurious response of the filter up to 110 GHz. Measurement results of the proposed filter are in good agreement with simulation.
