Abstract :
In a mobile ad hoc network (MANET), each of the mobile node needs to perform address autoconfiguration itself, due to the absence of any centralized server in the network. The address autoconfiguration is defined as the job of assigning the IP addresses automatically to every new node. The objective of an autoconfiguration protocol is to minimize the communication overhead required for configuring a new node. In this paper, we have proposed a variant of existing autoconfiguration protocol i.e. MANETconf. Message complexity has been investigated and it has been found that the proposed variant of MANETconf performs much more efficiently in terms of the message overhead required for configuring a new node.
