Abstract :
The on-orbit demonstration technology is explored and studied for a space-biology nanosatellite, which is being developed by Nanjing University of Science and Technology and Fujian Academy of Agricultural Sciences to monitor the growth and metabolism of Azolla. Firstly, the space biology related experiments performed by NASA using CubeSats are reviewed. Then, the objective of the space biology experiment using Azolla is described and the technical requirements to the satellite system are presented along with an analysis of the technical difficulties and a task assignment. At last, a general design scheme for the Azolla-carrying nanosatellite is proposed, including the satellite platform design, small payload unit design, ground communication system design and satellite on-orbit control.
