Abstract
This paper discusses a new approach of weight measurement using magnetic levitation system. The experiment has been performed such that it levitates a ferromagnetic object at a fixed distance from the electromagnet and the current through the coil is measured at the instant the object is being levitated. This paper shows an approach to find out the relation between the weight of the object and its corresponding current, which can be used to determine the weight of the levitated object. With the help of the relationship determined in this paper, it is possible to calculate the weight of an unknown object by determining the current drawn by the electromagnet.
