Abstract :
Wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) is a technique developed to exploit the optical spectrum currently lying unused. The scope for routeing through a multinode network without wavelength shifting assuming that the available wavelength slots on any one fibre are only partially filled is examined. The address space requirements for the UK national network and ATM cell injection are also examined
