Abstract
Pulse position modulation (PPM) can exploit the abundant monomode optical fibre bandwidth to offer improved sensitivity. A new PPM PIN-HBT system is proposed for the transport and distribution of digital TV over the optical fibre network. The proposed system is compared with an equivalent PCM sysem and shown to offer a 9.6 dB sensitivity improvement
