Abstract :
At the recent years, expectations for efficient eGovernment and eCommerce and theirs accomplishment by high standard through reliable identification, authentication, and secure online interoperability transactions of citizens´ eID (electronic-ID) cards are varies from country to country. Among these countries Afghanistan eGovernment scheme is at an early stage of development. Recently, eID card and ePassport have proceeded a rapid evaluation as a huge demand for increasing population growth´s identification in the world. Three years ago, the dreams of implementation of eNID (electronic National Identification Documents) project came true when GTR (Grand Technology Resources, Afghan owned company) in cooperation of international partners and national clients MCIT (Ministry of Communication and Information Technology) and MOI (Ministry Of Interior), have started the practical works. In this study, the eGovernment discussion is mostly dedicated on eNID including eID and ePassport issuance in Afghanistan from various aspect from initiative stage to implementation, barriers, accomplishments and prospectiveness. Moreover, the paper will focus to present the national and international importance of eNID for government of Afghanistan at present situation. In the continuation of the subject, explains the motivation behind eNID and its social impact. A part of this study is allocated to explore the prominence of private sector to support government of Afghanistan for efficient eNID project fulfillment, what they do so far? What role the private sector will play in the future (in view of the existing opportunities and threats).
