Abstract
In this paper, an analysis of performance and efficiency of a photovoltaic (PV) system is performed on the basis of experimental results. The objective is to compare different methods in term of power extraction. Three different methods are considered. First we investigate the capabilities of tracking based power maximization. Then, an MPPT based algorithm is studied. Finally, a combination between both tracking and MPPT is considered. The energy collected from the three methods was measured and compared to a fixed inclined PV at 32° south. The results indicate that the collected solar energy measured by the tracking system was significantly better than with fixed surface. Therefore, the combination of MPPT and tracking gives better results than all previous strategies with increased energy captured until 98,12%.
